Wellicious - Sustainable Cradle to Cradle Fashion

Q & A

Here are some answers to your most important questions!

Every second, one garbage truck full of clothing is burned or dumped into a landfill. Not ours! When you put on our new Cradle to Cradle Certified® yoga collection, you can be sure that you are wearing the most eco-friendly and sustainable products that are on the market. They are about as sustainable as it gets! It is the world’s most ambitious actionable standard for designing products for a sustainable tomorrow.

1- What does Cradle to Cradle fashion mean?

Cradle to Cradle fashion means that the lifecycle of a product – from design to production through decomposition – is done in such a way that the item can be 100% recycled or upcycled at the end of its life. Most fabrics and fibres are inherently compostable. But when blended with synthetic fabrics or coated with chemicals and colours, it can take hundreds of years for a piece of cloth to start disintegrating and dissolve with nature. At Wellicious, all yarns, fabrics and dying processes are sourced and carried out so that the end product can biodegrade safely – without leaving anything harmful substances behind.

2- When will my Wellicious Cradle to Cradle Certified® products start to decompose?

The magic of biodegradable, safe and circular clothing…our clothes won’t biodegrade in your closet. We promise! The process begins only when several biological and chemical factors come together – none of which will ever happen at your home or in your closet.

3- Because they biodegrade, are Wellicious Cradle to Cradle Certified® products low quality?

On the contrary! Wellicious has been working with the world’s best European suppliers to ensure the longevity of its products.

4- What are the steps to making a Wellicious product certified and safe for biological systems?

Unlike other certifications, which tend to focus on a singular measure of sustainability, Cradle to Cradle certified® encompasses all aspects of products design and manufacturing. For products to be safe for biological systems, they must meet these five standards:

  • Material Health

Material health: ensuring materials are safe for humans and the environment.

  • Product Circularity

Product circularity: enabling a circular economy through regenerative products and process design.

  • Clean air & Climate Protection

Clean air & climate protection: protecting clean air, promoting renewable energy, and reducing harmful emissions.

  • Water & Soil Stewardship

Water & soil stewardship: safeguarding clean water and healthy soils.

  • Social Fairness

Social fairness: respecting human rights and contributing to a fair and equitable society.

5- Are Wellicious products Cradle to Cradle Certified®?

Yes! Our products have been certified in a long and rigorous process by the Cradle to Cradle Products and Innovation Institute which is an independent not for profit organization, recognized around the world. They define and measure what products and suppliers need to be so that they are fit for the circular economy.
