Guest post by HejHej
In today's world, where sustainability and environmental awareness are becoming increasingly important, many people are looking for products that are not only functional but also environmentally friendly. This is exactly where the closed-loop yoga mat from hejhej comes in. But how does the cycle of such a mat actually work? And what makes our yoga equipment so special? In this blog article, we introduce you to the circular economy of our hejhej-mat and our other products and explain why social sustainability is just as important to us.
The cycle of the hejhej-mat
Our hejhej-mat is a prime example of a product that was developed as part of a closed circular economy. This means that the yoga mat does not become waste at the end of its life, but is fed back into the production process. Here is an overview of the cycle:
- Material sourcing: the hejhej-mat is made from recycled materials. Among other things, we use production waste from the foam industry and old hejhej-mats, which we recycle.
- Production: New hejhej-mats are made from these recycled materials in our production facilities. We pay attention to energy-efficient processes and minimise our environmental impact.
- Use: The mats are durable and robust so that they can be used for many years.
- Return or recycling: When a hejhej-mat has reached the end of its useful life, it can be returned to us. We then return it to the production cycle by recycling it and manufacturing new products from it. New hejhej-mats and hejhej-blocks are made from the foam of the yoga mat.
Our other circular yoga equipment
In addition to the hejhej-mat, we have expanded our range to include other circular yoga equipment. This includes our bolster, which is produced according to the same principles of the circular economy. You can find detailed documentation on our bolster here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcJCdthYqCc
In addition to the hejhej-bolster, we also have yoga mat bags, yoga blocks, yoga straps, meditation pillows, eye pillows and a yoga spray. All products have been carefully developed and produced with the circular economy in mind. They are 100% recyclable.
A sense of responsibility and social sustainability
For us, sustainability not only means environmental compatibility, but also social responsibility. We co-operate with workshops that employ people with disabilities, enabling them to do meaningful work. We also regularly donate yoga mats to social organisations and projects to make yoga accessible to as many people as possible. You can read more about this in our Yoga Journal and discover our current projects.
Yoga for everyone: our YouTube channel
To make yoga truly accessible to everyone, we have created a YouTube channel. You will find simple and inspiring yoga exercises with equipment. Free yoga sessions that are suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. So far we have Vinyasa, Katonah, Yin, accessible classes and yoga for the blind. Have a look and join us!
Communication and commitment
At hejhej, we communicate openly about our values and our work. Topics such as sustainability, feminism and entrepreneurship are important to us and we regularly share content on our social media channels and in our Yoga Journal.
Our circular yoga mats and our other circular yoga equipment are not only good for the environment, but also an expression of our commitment to a better, fairer world. Together we can make a difference - on the yoga mat and beyond.
The hejhej-mat and our other yoga equipment show that it is possible to create sustainable and socially responsible products that are both functional and beautiful. We invite you to become part of this movement and enrich your daily yoga routine with our circular products.
